Railway Crossing Safety Reminder Ahead Of Extra Rail Traffic

 Queensland Rail is reminding motorists and pedestrians in the Ipswich area to approach railway crossings with caution, with additional works trains set to travel on the old Swanbank rail line indefinitely.

Queensland Rail Acting Chief Executive Officer, Jim Benstead, said the slight increase in rail traffic on the line between Bundamba and Blackstone meant people must remember to keep safety at the forefront of their minds when using railway crossings in the area.

1,500 New Citizens Discover Canada aboard VIA Rail trains

 A collaboration between VIA Rail and the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) has resulted in 1,500 new citizens travelling by train to explore Canada, their new home, in the last year.

This collaboration offers members of the ICC’s Cultural Access Pass (CAP) program – a program exclusively offered to new citizens – 50 per cent off the lowest available fare, in any class, one way or round trip, with no blackout periods, for them and up to four of their children under the age of 18.

Tourists Satisfied With Services Provided During Confederations Cup 2013, Reveals Survey

 The Brazil Tourism Ministry announced the preliminary results of a study conducted by the Institute of Economic Research (FIFE) on the quality of infrastructure and tourist services provided during the Confederations Cup.

According to the survey, the satisfaction of Brazilian and foreign tourists is above 50% in more than half of the evaluated services.

Chicago registered near record tourism numbers in May 2013

 Chicago registered near record hotel occupancy rates for the month of May at 81.2 percent. Overnight leisure visitation to Chicago was a record May occupancy of 48%, an increase of 8.5 percent over the May 2012 level of 44.2% and spurred much of the overall growth. The news comes just a month after Mayor Emanuel and Choose Chicago announced near-record tourism rates for Chicago in 2012, with over 46.2 million visitors to the city.

American Express reports great demand for cruising through survey

 American Express Travel has taken the opportunity of the annual Cruise3Sixty conference to reveal the results of a recent internal cruise survey of around 250 American Express Travel Counselors, including its Representative Network across the US.

According to the survey, customers are continuing to seek and book new cruise experiences, with 85 percent of respondents reporting their sales have not been impacted by the recent events within the cruise industry.

Temporary Runway Closures June 25th through June 29th

 San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has announced that two runways will be closed temporarily on alternate days next week for construction activity surrounding the federally mandated Runway Safety Areas (RSA) initiative.

Upon completion of this work, the two runways, 28L and 28R, will no longer require day-time closures for the RSA work.

 American Airlines today announces the launch of a new codeshare agreement with St. Croix-based Seaborne Airlines, providing customers access to six destinations in the Caribbean out of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The codeshare agreement allows American to place its code on Seaborne's flights between San Juan (SJU) and Dominica (DOM), Fort-de-France, Martinique (FDF), Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe (PTP), Tortola, British Virgin Islands (EIS), Vieques, Puerto Rico (VQS) and Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands (VIJ).
