Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is starting to illustrate signs of improvement in its hottest turnaround business endeavor, after a year of restructuring and almost invariable correction to its new business plan. East Midlands Airport set for festive flying at Christmas

Thousands of people are packing their suitcases, ready to travel through East Midlands Airport over the Christmas and New Year period.

86,500 people are expected to travel through the airport between Friday 21st December 2012 and Wednesday 2nd January 2013 , a 0.6% increase when compared to the same period in 2011/12.

Friday 21st December 2012, marks the beginning of the festive getaway, with approximately 9,000 passengers jetting off to sunnier climes, with Wednesday 2nd January following closely behind, as passengers return to the UK to prepare for work and school.

Jet Airways introduces new Mangalore-Dubai service, effective January 3, 2013

myanmar(Yangoon)-Air Bagan flight W9-011 accident during landing

 An accident happened to Air Bagan flight W9-011 during landing near Heho airport at 08:50 a.m. on 25 December 2012.  The Fokker 100 aircraft was carrying 65 passengers, 6 crew members including a pilot and a co-pilot.

The emergency exit was opened as soon as the aircraft landed in the nearby field and passengers were evacuated by our cabin crew.  Eight passengers were injured as the aircraft caught fire and were taken to the nearest Sao San Tun hospital in Taung Gyi for treatment.

The Allegheny County Airport Authority has approved placement of Glenn Kaino’s Arch for display at Pittsburgh International Airport. Currently Arch is undergoing restoration work and will likely be placed in the Landside Terminal of Pittsburgh International Airport this spring, in time to be a welcoming site for the major national convention for Americans for the Arts set for Pittsburgh June 14, 2013.

Connecticut Convention Center donates more than 120 Toys to Hartford area childen

 Employees of the Connecticut Convention Center were certainly in the Holiday spirit, as they donated more than 120 toys to local children in need on Thursday afternoon.  The toys were delivered to 96.5 FM’s “We Are the Children” toy drive held at the Toy Chest in West Hartford, CT.

Connecticut Convention Center names new Catering Sales Manager

 The Connecticut Convention Center recently named Emily Borders as its new Catering Sales Manager. In her role, Emily will be responsible for soliciting new accounts, nurturing and growing existing client relationships, and onsite management of client programs.

Emily began working at the Convention Center in January 2011 as Operations Coordinator and quickly excelled in her role, earning a promotion after only two months.  Emily holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Sports Management from Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT.

Connecticut Convention Center names new Communication Manager

The Connecticut Convention Center recently named Amanda Schoonmaker as its new Communications Manager. In her role, Amanda will primarily be responsible for significantly increasing awareness of the Convention Center within the region through a professional and comprehensive communications and public relations plan.  She will also act as the communications liaison to the community, while planning, executing and coordinating events designed to maintain and enhance awareness of the venue.

Tampa Convention Center Adds "Brews & Bites" in 2013

Located on Tampa's busy RiverWalk, adjacent to the Tampa Convention Center, Sail Pavilion will be hosting the Brews & Bites Food Truck Rally on Friday, January 11, 2013, from 6 to 10 p.m. A rolling celebration of food and fun, Brews & Bites will feature a fleet of area food trucks, and live entertainment from local musicians at the venue's unique 360-degree waterfront bar. Brews & Bites is scheduled to take place on the second Friday of each month throughout 2013.

 The owners of Adolphus Tower are adding a new restaurant space to its 26-story tower at 1412 Main St. in downtown Dallas.

The 2,600-square-foot space is being developed for Freshii, a healthy restaurant concept, which is making its first foray into the Dallas market.

DXB's annual passenger traffic to surpass 2012 target

 Passenger traffic at Dubai International is all set to surpass the projected target of 56.5 million for the year, as the world’s fourth busiest hub for international passengers racked up another month of double digit growth this November, according to the monthly traffic report issued by Dubai Airports. The airport operator revealed that traffic is forecast to reach 66 million in 2013.

Dubai Tourism organizes promotional workshops in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, with the participation of 19 representatives from different sectors

 The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) organized three workshops in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar during the period from 13 to 17 December to boost tourism market in the region.

Emirates Engine Maintenance centre general contractor selected

 Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, announced the selection of Khansaheb Civil Engineering to build the Emirates Engine Overhaul Shop; a 225,000-sq. ft. engine maintenance facility for maintaining the GE90 and GP7200 engines that power Emirates aircraft. Slated to be the most technologically-advanced Engine Overhaul Shop in the region, the facility will service the engines of theEmirates current fleet of nearly 150 Boeing 777s and Airbus 380s, as well as the additional 138 more of these aircraft types on order.

Carnival Foundation Donates $54,000 for Needy Kids in South Florida


Carnival Cruise Lines and Carnival Corporation & plc have given $54,000 to 12 South Florida nonprofit organizations through the Carnival Foundation. The monetary donations were used to purchase holiday gifts for underprivileged children in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. In addition to the organizations that received funds, Carnival Cruise Lines donated new toys to needy children through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program and the Toys for Tots Program. Altogether, the toy and monetary donations provide holiday gifts to more than 4,000 local children in need.
